Do you suspect that your man is about to pop that all important question? Have you been looking at engagement rings? He hasn't, well don't let that stop you from looking. Are you engaged and haven't picked out your wedding rings yet?
What are your taste, will you want a diamond solitaire or something custom designed? How much should you spend on your wedding bands? Do you have to have a diamond in your wedding set? Are your rings going to match, do you have a job that would be hard on your ring, choose Titanium bands?
Remember that it is a personal choice your taste will not necessarily mesh with your mates.
Key things to remember when looking for diamonds, are the Four C's in choosing diamonds these are terms your jeweler will use to determine the quality of a stone.
Cut
This refers to the series of tiny flat planes (facets) created within it to release the stones brilliance. Cut grading is ranked from poor and fair to good, very good, premium and ideal.
Clarity
A reference to the number of inner flaws, as well as their size and visibility that will determine a diamonds clarity. Brilliant diamonds are pricier due to the fact that they have less visible inclusions. This scale ranges from FL(flawless) to VS (very slightly included) to SI (slightly included) to I (imperfect)
Color
Nearly all diamonds have traces of color caused by impurities or structural defects in the stone. Note that the most valuable diamond is colorless. They are ranked in a letter scale. D-F (colorless) G-J (nearly colorless) K-M (faint yellow) and N-Z (light yellow)
Carat
Term that indicates the weight and size of the diamond. Diamonds of the same size can vary widely in quality, a reason why a stone can cost only $1,000 and another for 10 times as much. Remember a large, dull diamond is not as fascinating as a smaller more brilliant stone.
